Montpelier PFAS Testing Shows No Contamination
From the Montpelier Board of Works & Safety meeting on July 15, 2026
IDEM visited the Montpelier Hartford City Water Department to conduct PFAS sampling — testing for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, a class of chemicals that have raised health concerns nationwide. Previous rounds of testing were mailed to the city, causing confusion, so IDEM came to do the sampling directly.
Water Superintendent Chase Perry reported that the last round of testing showed no signs of PFAS contamination, and he does not expect this round to be different. Going forward, IDEM will send notifications and the city will submit samples to a designated lab.
