Monroe and Finch Traffic Complaints Drop After County Line Tragedy
From the Montpelier Board of Works & Safety meeting on May 13, 2026
The traffic study at the Monroe and Finch intersection continues, but complaints about speeding and stop sign violations in the area have significantly decreased. Chief Snider and Mayor Nef attributed the change to a traffic tragedy on the county line that affected the community. Young people in the area reportedly signed a pledge to obey traffic laws following the incident.
Snider noted there are no prescribed duration requirements for the study, and officers are checking different times of day to look for patterns.
The mayor also reported that INDOT denied a request from Justin Brooks to remove a stop sign, stating they are required by law to place stop signs on the right-hand side.
