Hartford City Organizes Flood Relief for Neighboring Communities

Hartford City Board of Public Works and Safety and Safety members praised city employees and the community for weathering a week of severe storms while organizing relief for harder-hit neighbors.
Member Pam Weiseman said Hartford City was "very fortunate" and "very blessed — some people aren't," crediting city employees for keeping up with flooding throughout the week. Dan Eckstein called it "a tough, tough week for communities" and noted cleanup efforts were ongoing.
Hartford City Wesleyan Church collected donations for Muncie flood shelters, accepting health care items, water, canned foods, non-perishable items, and hygiene products through 4 p.m. on August 17.
A Red Cross blood drive is scheduled for Thursday, August 21, at the Wesleyan Church. The Red Cross reported blood supply levels are at 30-year lows.
