Council Approves Emergency Repairs for Lift Station Pump and Chlorine System
From the Hartford City Common Council meeting on March 2, 2026
Hartford City's Common Council approved two emergency infrastructure expenditures on March 2, both passing 5-0.
Travis Williamson of the Wastewater Treatment Plant reported a catastrophic failure of a lift station pump — a piece of equipment that moves sewage through the city's collection system. The repair is estimated at $12,000 to $13,000, with quotes being sought from multiple vendors.
Bill Bacon of the Water Department requested $14,425 for an emergency chlorine shutoff system at the water treatment plant, to be supplied by BMK Solutions. Bacon cited safety concerns as the reason for the urgent request.
Together, the two emergency repairs total roughly $27,000 in unplanned spending for the city's water and sewer systems.
